Went for a group gathering which was held out on the deck. The staff was really nice and the food items they were passing around were pretty good. I did take a look at the menu and I will say things seemed a little on the pricy side. But, I will need to return to provide some additional feedback. I will add though that I think if you are going to be on the water, have some drinks with friends and listen to live music, this place would be a spot you should try to get to. They seem to have that managed very well.

Stopped by BLU for a drink and for the waterfront ambience. Ostensibly, as I later found out, the cover charge is whatever they think the traffic will bear. There were two women at the gate and they charged me $10. I gave one woman a twenty dollar bill while the other fastened a wristband. I had to remind the money handler that I gave her a twenty, she was not offering any change. It was dark and I assumed what she handed me was a ten dollar bill, but it was only a single. I noticed as soon as I went to the bar that I didn't have a ten in my wallet. I immediately went back to the gate and she denied she shortchanged me. These two flimflam artists have quite a racket going. I could tell this was not an anomaly. They didn't even flinch when I confronted them, in a nice way. That these young grifters and quick-buck artists are at the entrance to this establishment charging different covers, and stealing from people, tells me a lot. Mainly that they are a reflection of management and ultimately the owners. The proprietors set the tone and the culture for any business. I will not go back and I certainly will not eat there.

I dined here this week although my salmon salad was excellent my husbands clam cakes and chowder were cold. I am not sure if they prepared these items first and waited for the salad. He did ask for the waiter to reheat the soup but we just didn't bother with the clam cakes. The view is fantastic, right on the water. This place has great possibilities and I will try it again in the future. It may have been just an off day.

Went there for a 50th birthday party last weekend. We had a reservation for an outside table for 10 at 8pm which somehow got messed up. We ended up in the basement basically a dungeon alone. There were fruit flies everywhere and the floor was drenched. It was really disappointing on such a beautiful night. The bright spot of the evening was our terrific waitress Jess. World Premier was playing so we made the best of it.

Trashy at night. Cover charge changes on a whim from $0 to $10 to $20. We paid $20 each at 11 pm. We would've been in earlier but the parking is a nightmare. We tried to valet but a traffic cop told us to "try again later" because they were backed up. The place is filled with total douchebags and makeup smothered cougars. Never. Coming. Back.

This place was hopping on a Saturday night but we were lucky to snag a couple seats at the bar. Our bartender andrew was fantastic. We started with littlenecks and oysters and clam cakes. All very good even had leftover clam cakes for breakfast and still yummy. I had the applewood bacon and scallops. Absolutely delicious! My friend had the blackened salmon. It was good but not really blackened. The band that was playing was real good.

I've never once had to return food anywhere I go. Last night at Blu was not a pleasant experience. The steamers were not clean and a for lack of better words spoiled. I never had such a rotten taste in my mouth. I was so disappointed and couldn't eat after that. The rest of the dishes were tasteless and nowhere near fresh. I never got an apology, anytime from the management. The steamers were taking of the bill but that's all they did. I figured they would try to make it right to a guest they really could've gotten sick. Last time I go there, I'm sure my friends won't be going back either.

This was a wrong from the beginning but I was just too hungry to listen to my common sense. I should of spun my tires when I pulled into the valet and they said "just park yourself, we're not busy enough to park it for you". I parked and went inside, chuckling as I saw another "self parker" still give the valet a few bucks anyways, really? So we decided to sit outside to avoid a 30 min wait for an inside seat. The entire staff was made up of high school/college "summer help" All whom were more concerned with gossiping and flirting with each other instead of focusing on the task at hand.. the customers. I ordered an appetizer, then I stopped the bartender from taking my menu away, explaining I hadn't made my entree decision yet. She promptly and loudly laughed at me out loud saying "I was only moving it over here for now". I asked her if there was a problem, she ignored me and she avoided me the rest of the night and the other bartenders ended up serving us. We sat there listening to all their gossip and drama of the night. My steamers were mucky and tasted like low tide. I was expected to clean them all with a thimble of broth. I've eaten steamers my whole life, these were very low quality. We managed to make it through the meal and leave without me blowing my top. It's a shame because this place is close to where we slip our sailboat. I wish it could of been better. One can always value a good restaurant. We'll never be back.

The two star review is merely for the amazingly gorgeous location, great drinks and good service. Came in on Saturday afternoon...was seated by a lovely server named Emily who was sincerely sweet from start to finish. Had the Mussel Frites...absolutely the most vile thing ive ever eaten....completely doused in truffle oil...it was unbearable. I dont know why any "chef" would cook without tasting their food but honestly never again. My friend ordered the Penne Alla Vodka with chicken and that was equally as bad. Tasted like Paper Mache paste and the chicken was processed and dry as the Turkey burger my other friend ordered. You guys seriously need to step your game up, location DOES NOT make up for horrible food and thst seems to be an ongoing con/trend in Rhode Island. A waterside location in Boston would NEVER pull this shit. A $90 lunch tab should come with atleast 60% satisfaction. There was none to be had. The worst part is out server noticed I ate 3 mussels and asked if i was displeased, told her "yes far too much truffle oil" she replied "okay ill let them know" nothing against her as its not her job to comp the bill....but it should have been done. Never again. Dont eat food at a place that does not care about what they are serving.

my boyfriend ordered the Jamaican chicken tacos and they only put salt and peppers. Nothing Jamaican about that. Our waitress said they used to put a sauce on it but stopped. WHY WOULD YOU? She went in the back she said and got us the sauce. I'm sorry but did you just give us old sauce??? It was just a bad move overall. I had the fish and chips and they did not let it rest or pat the oil. Basically threw the fish on my plate.

I have had a lot of friends go to Blu for the nightlife and stuff, and I have heard a lot of decent reviews about it, so I decided to go and take my fiance and her family out for dinner. First of all, I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the valet parking as the only option.. I understand how crowded it is there and it can be a hassle to self park, but I wasn't comfortable with it because of all the reviews I've seen about the valet company leaving windows open and damaging cars and so on.. But I had no choice. The valet dudes are rude and take forever to bring cars back, and my window was open.. But no damage thankfully. I recommend parking way down King street or somewhere else. Now lets get to the actual dining experience! Our waitress, Kristy, was probably the best waitress I've ever had in my life, she was so nice, always smiling, she genuinely looked like she enjoyed her job. If I ever come back, I'll be requesting her for sure. My fiances sister got bit a horsefly the minute we got there, and Kristy went right in and grabbed a makeshift glove full of ice! She was very helpful with food choices, and the only mistake we noticed was the sides that came with my mom in laws salmon dish.. No biggie though, because she genuinely apologized and everything was all good. I ordered a bbq bacon burger, which was cooked perfectly by the way, and it was probably the best burger I've ever eaten in my 24 years on this earth. If I could have burgers like that every time I'd certainly come back. All of our other dishes were rather good, from our beer battered shrimp, to the swordfish, to the desserts, it was all wonderful! The crowd of people there ranged from the mayor of North Providence, all the way to average joes like myself and my party, all the way to Jersey shore looking crowds of bros and girls who looked like they were pregaming for the mediocre band they had that night lol. The crowd became more and more filled with bros and stuff as the night went on, but I got out of there before it progressed. Needless to say I'll only be coming back for dinner or lunch, because im not really into that scene. The place itself looked awesome. I love the fire torches and firepit on the dock, and the scenery is gorgeous! I love the setup all around. Just make sure you wash the windows on the outside of the dock ;) All in all, I wanna give this a 3.5, because the food was very expensive for what we ordered, but being in East Greenwich, I kind of expected it. I enjoyed myself because of our waitress, if it wasnt for her we would've went elsewhere. And the valet company really needs to become more professional in order for me to consider coming back in the near future.

Went there on a Friday night. A local band was playing so there was a ridiculous $10 cover. The place was packed which is expected. The drinks were expensive ($11 for martini and angry ball $8.50 for rum/coke). One of bartenders assumed I was giving him all of my change as a tip so I had to ask for my change. And then I got attitude about it. Nice atmosphere outside being right on the water with fire pits and comfy chairs but overall not worth it.

This is a great venue to sit outside on the water and have a drink and appetizers. We went on memorial day weekend when we couldn't get in to Chelos. Blu had complimentary valet , so it was easy. The food is pretty good, but a little pricey for the portion sizes. There was a band that started around 9, which was great, that is when the crowd started to pick up. There was a good mix of age groups. The service was very good considering the size of the crowd. The only downside is a little wait for the valet to leave, but it wasn't too bad. Overall, I would definately return to hang out.

I dined here on a Sunday night with my family (a party of 15 ppl). Reservation was for 7pm and the table was all set and made when we got there. I had never been before and thought the service was great, food was good, prices weren't crazy like I was expecting, and the waterfront ambiance/firepit were very nice. Everything was clean and as it should be. Bathrooms were a little cramped and my brother in laws meal which was really an appetizer came out 20 minutes before every one else's food, but other than that, my family and I loved the place and the food. I'll definitely be back!

So we really wanted a nice dinner on the water. It's summer and we thought is would be great to eat outside on the gorgeous waterfront in East Greenwich. Well, we ate our dinner Al fresco, but the meal was just meh. We had $10 mojitos, which were pretty good. The calamari was ok, but the sauce tasted like sweet pizza sauce. My husband ordered raw littlenecks and almost broke his tooth on 3 of his clams. Their raw bar guy needs a little refresher course. The pear gorgonzola salad was good, if not for a bit too much balsamic glaze and the fact that they cut the pears so that the seeds were still in the pieces, it would have been great. I ordered scallops with risotto and "roasted veggies". What I got was 4, almost undercooked scallops, rice that was dry and clumped together, and sauteed veggies where the green beans were woody and not cooked properly. I will only go there again for drinks at one of their nice outdoor bars. I won't be eating there again.

We stumbled upon this lovely place while waiting for the fast ferry to Martha's Vineyard . Its charming decor beautiful waterfront views and delicious seafood helped pass the time most enjoyably . I had the tuna and my husband the stuffed cod . The watermelon sangria was refreshing.

We were looking for a nice clean seafood lunch. We had great cocktails, cucumber muddled with vodka and soda, splash of simple syrup. It was delicious, but all down hill after that. Husband had fish tacos, great presentation but not well prepared. Dry fish with sloppy dressing. Just a mess. The lobster salad was weird. Slimy mayonnaise, funny taste and texture and way oversalted. Portion size good but no excuse for not getting lobster salad right in Rhode Island. Lots of much better places with attention to details.

2 stars for the great view and friendly hostess and waitress. This past Tuesday, my sister and our daughters went for a girls day out with an early supper at Blu as we were going to a pottery class later that evening. The first offense - having 3 + near empty parking lots but requiring valet parking! We requested to be seated outside and the friendly hostess brought us to a very nice table on the deck which was almost empty. The waitress arrived shortly to take drink orders but it took a while for her to return. Knowing that this is a seafood spot, we placed our orders - 2 orders of fish and chips, an order of crab cakes and a shrimp cocktail with a side salads. It seemed that our waitress kept apologizing for changes to the menu or the way items were made but we didn't think too much of it. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, our food finally arrived. The only OK item was the far from jumbo shrimp at 3.75 per. The crab cakes( 2 small ones- $14.99) had nice large pieces of crab and seemed to be seasoned well but they were so overcooked that those facts were lost. The 2 girls' fish and chips ($14.00each)again looked nice but upon tasting they both found the fish to be "the driest toughest fish they had ever had". Again way overcooked. And the french fries were soggy. Even the croutons on the salads were not edible as they were soft and stale. For the prices this restaurant charges there is no excuse for such poor quality. I know this is a trendy club spot at night but was surprised by the lack of care given to the food items. I get the impression that some of these late night spots are all about the drinks, music, see and be seen attitudes. I have been here with my husband last year for drinks and we did enjoy the evening. But sadly from this experience - as the location is so beautiful - we will not be back!

I love where Blu is located. It's nice to be on the water with a couple outdoor bars and seating. It's typically very busy which can be fun but sometimes it takes a long time to get a drink never mind a food menu. The food is pretty good. The live music is always good. I didn't like when the waitress was taking our order how another server walked over to her, interrupted her and started complaining to her about work related issues. It could've waited until she left our table. Valet fills up so parking can be tough. Also when we stopped there for my cousins bachelorette party they wanted all 18 of us to pay a cover charge. I didn't like that but they did end up saying nevrrmindI like going there in the afternoon best-for cocktails, fresh air, a little music and maybe some food.

Overpriced for underwhelming food. Went for a late lunch to enjoy some seafood on the water but very disappointing. Atmosphere is nice outside adjacent to yacht club but other than that a waste of money. Expensive salads were just a pile of arugula with some dressing and a few shrimp or pieces of tuna. Ahi tuna sandwich was over cooked and not fresh. We stayed in East Greenwich rather than drive further south but regretted our decision.

Great atmosphere, marina club vibe, service is good. Valets are douche bags, park somewhere else because they'll put your car wherever they want - tip, no tip, just stupid douche bags. When I come here again I'll be going to Nautika where they take care of you.

Parking suck, we was told twice to just keep it moving without explanation and we keep seeing them let other cars in, The third time I pulled to the side and asked the cops if we was not allowed to use the valet parking and that's when he explained we can but if there's too many car waiting they can't let people block the entrance...understandable I guess. Went after 11 and we had to pay $20 to get in, seriously tho? Anyway it's beautiful and I love the location and decor. Really nice view, the drinks was ok but my main thing it's just was not versatile at all and they close at 1am. Too early

Just awful, I am sorry to say. Soggy fries, unripe tomatoes on the caprese salad, tasteless chicken tenders. I know the places on the water just don't care - they make money on the drinks the summer crowds buy. How great if they concentrated on making one or two great things - like great burgers and fish and chips- and served great local craft beers?!?! I'd be there every week even in the winter!

I went here with five friends for a girls night out, which is a rare luxury now that two of us have kids. The wait was longer than promised but we sat at one of the outdoor bars and enjoyed drinks while watching the activity around the boats. It was a perfect night to be out and we didn't mind waiting. I had a bit of sticker shock when I got the bill for my one glass of sangria : $12! Yikes. Of course there were no prices on the drink menu so I should have known it was pricey. We ordered calamari and mussels for appetizers. The calamari pieces were all stuck together but once pried apart, they tasted good. The mussels were excellent. I got lobster ravioli for my main course. It was about $22 and sadly lacked much lobster. The ravioli pieces were mostly just pasta. That was disappointing. My friend got the swordfish and that was really delicious. Two friends got the bacon cheeseburger and both their orders were made incorrectly. Our waitress was very nice but slow. It was moderately busy. Valet parking was great and very convenient.

The location and atmosphere were awesome. They had a live band. Nice to be right on the water. Nice beer selection. The appetizers we got (calamari, crab cakes and shrimp) were really tasty. The entrees were not quite as good but still solid. Would definitely go back for the location and atmosphere. Only negative was the wait staff seemed overwhelmed.

Slow, slow, slow! Don't bother stopping here if you are on any kind of time clock. We arrived at 6:30 and were told it was a 45 min wait. Fast forward to 8:10 when we're were finally seated! Food is just ok. The Sangria tasted like straight up vodka. And it cost $22 for two drinks. The crowd is either 20 something college kids or 50 year old Cougars. My husband ended up violently I'll at 3 in the morning. We won't be back!

  • Melissa P.

I have tried to like this place but it's so hard. The view and interior are great and that's about all. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced, as well as the drinks. Service is what it is, young kids working for the summer, don't care to be there, disappear throughout the service. Valet is another story and the night time crowd is just a strange mix of weird.

Even though Blu had some bad reviews on the food and service, we decided to give it a try since we were going there to see the band Tribeca. We saw them for the first time a few weeks prior and had a great time and enjoyed their music. We got lucky and found a table in the outside bar area instead of waiting 45 min to eat in the restaurant area. It took awhile for a waitress to come over. I finally ordered a cosmo, which was the worst ive ever had. It had a weird taste to it like too much lime juice. A different server brought our food but we didnt have any silverware or napkins. He was nice and found some and brought it to the table then we had to ask him for ketchup and mustard. For dinner I had a garden salad with grilled chicken. It was ok, my only complaints are there was barely any dressing and only two cherry tomatoes on it. My boyfriend had a burger and veggies, which were good. I would have asked for more dressing but the waitress was no where around. The service was definitely lacking. We even had to track her down to ask for the check. The cosmos were $13.50....and Captain on the rocks $11.50.....so for 4 drinks and our meals the check was $80. The band started playing and not one good song to dance to in about 30 minutes. We grabbed a seat at the bar and i was able to see the stage and realized it wasnt the regular lead singer so maybe thats why. Then the band went on break for over an hour. It was past 10 pm at this time, the band came back on and some little kids started singing. We decided to leave. We were so disappointed since we came out just for the band and dancing.

We ordered a wide of dishes and we were are more than satisfied. The service was pretty good and the staff was kind (they gave us extra bread) plus the view is great. Overall a great experience. A little on the pricy side (especially the alcohol) but worth it.

  • Mike P.

I come here a few times every summer and I love the view, I love the service and I enjoy the food. The menu is large and varied, although there is no true surprises. The drink menu is also a good size and they don't skimp on the alcohol. Why four stars? Get rid of valet parking; it is highly unnecessary.

  • GNie S.

Went on a Monday night & was pleasantly surprised with the packed outdoor deck thinking food should be good but was dissapointed.. Cod came out lukewarm & not as hot..shrimp scampi was tasteless..swordfish had an unnecessary huuuge dollop of butter on it which masks the 'freshness' of the fish & the truffle fries are not truffle fries, I don't know what they are..so go for a drink(beers & wines are safest as their cocktails are not as good too) & take in the waterfront view but skip the food. Ambience:3* Service:1* Food:0*

For this west coast visitor, the hot lobster roll was great! Not enough places offer a no- mayonnaise hot buttered lobster roll option. I would go back for the lobster roll alone. The Sangria was fun, the atmosphere was cute and relaxing. I wouldn't recommend the truffle fries, pasta or any of the vegetables. All of the sides tasted over cooked and/or frozen and microwaved.

I went here tonight for a friends birthday after bad reviews I thought id still give it a chance. My waitress was very rude, "Sammy G" according to the receipt. We got there early before our party and ordered waters with lemon... Didn't receive them. Our group came and we ordered the same thing, no lemon. Wasn't very busy either and I had to get up 3x bc she wouldn't come to the table. We ordered a drink and when our friend ordered the same drink the amount of alcohol in each was completely different. When I said something I got the response that there were 2 diff bartenders and they free pour... Apparently they don't care about consistency. I ordered the tuna burger which was so gross which I was excited about too, everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals I think. Wouldn't go back!

  • Paul W.

Four of us had 2 pound lobsters at $40 a piece, a little bit pricey, but we had it lazy men style, it was no work at all but a bit chewy. The lobster roll looked like it was perfect with very little filler on a grilled buttered bun. The clam cakes and the cole slaw with probably two of my favorite items on the menu. The apple chorizo slaw was also very interesting. The cocktails were a decent pour and well made. What makes this place worth the price is the staff and the organization of the restaurant, which was phenomenal. everybody knew their job and I did very very! Great music and a very pleasant crowd, it made me feel like I was on vacation in the Caribbean!!!

Went for some day drinks and lunch... The atmosphere was relaxing and what a beautiful view!!! The strawberry mojito was amazing (normally I don't like mojitos). My only suggestion is to make sure that all the bartenders make signature drinks the same way. We could tell when there was a transition in bartenders because there was quite a difference in the drink, although, both tasted very good. Our server - Emily - she was a sweetheart, very nice and helpful with suggestions. I'm bummed that my first time here was the end of September so I won't be able to enjoy the outdoor view until next year!

This was a great place for a weeknight dinner. The deck has an amazing view, the food was delicious, and the ambiance is incomparable to any place I've ever dined on the water.

This was a great restaurant, but.... Valet are condescending, waitress slow, did not bring my food when others were served; we had to request my food and was obviously forgotten; calamari were tough and rubbery; service is slow; rest of the food was okay but so so.

Avoid the valet parking at all costs, food is average one of the best locations in RI to go for a drink.

    (4)
  • Anthony R.

Pros: Locations and views (dinner will be in the shade so bring sweatshirt if windy) Cool atmosphere. Burger was average but improved from last year. Pretty Good beer selection. Cons: The waitress was trying to up sell everything but wasn't 'do you want to upgrade' ect made it seem like it came with that side. Waitress was missing most of dinner. Frozen French fries. Swordfish over cooked. Valet was fine but slow would be worried at peak times there would be a big wait but the kids did hustle.

  • Omur S.

Very impressive interior design with a beautiful view. Calamari served on an arugula salad with green olives was delicious, lobster bisque soup was very good but the best dish was the mahi mahi taco. Servers were very accommodating and the service was fast. Excellent place!

  • Trinity G.

Great location and atmosphere! The food was not great for what they charge. If you sit at a table for dinner you will have decent service if you catch them on a good day but if you are sitting at the bar...forget about it! I met up with my fiancé and a few of his coworkers last night for drinks and a bite to eat. We asked for a food menu 3 times and to 3 different bartenders and still did not get a menu until we asked the couple 5 seats down if we could have theirs. The bartenders last night acted as if we were inconveniencing them by even being there and trying to order from them. They all need a major attitude adjustment. We often come in on the boat and spend the night on the boat and end up dropping hundreds of dollars but after last nights service we won't be back for a while. Bummer because we really do like it there. They are trying to be a higher end place and they could be if they would get there act together with their service and hire a new chef that actually cares about what is coming out of his kitchen.

Mm... rhode island calamari. Phenomenal. Oh and I cant forget about their clam cakes. Came here to grab a quick bite before a meeting. We ordered a bowl of chowder, calamari, clam cakes and stuffies. Everything was mouth watering. The calamari was battered and cooked to peefection,I loved that theres slices of peppercini, the clam cakes were deep fried justtttt right and it wasnt too doughy. The chowder was nice and smooth and creamy. The stuffies were okay, I think ive had better but still good for your first meal in rhode island just off a plane ;) Service was okay.. they definitely need to be more attentive. I noticed that the employees are all bundled up at the front counter near the host area chatting and hanging out while im all the way at the opposite end of the restaurant trying to flag them down for the check. :/

Had lunch at Blu today with four friends . Three of us ordered chicken kabobs and were very disappointed . We reported to waitress and owner. Owner did not seem to care that three people having the same dinner were not satisfied. If I were the owner, I would never let anyone leave without showing concern and do something to rectify. As a result, these five customers probably won't return .

Had dinner with my daughters last night, the view & atmosphere is nice the waitress we had was horrible , I ordered chicken taco which was good but there was a hair in my fries when the waitress finally came to check on us I showed her she said she would show the kitchen & that was the last time we saw her until she dropped the check off. We ran out of drinks mid way through dinner. Wait staff needs big improvement prob wouldn't go back

Food was good, location was excellent. HOWEVER, when we went to leave and get our car from valet we were told it would be a 40 minute wait (what?!?!) or we could get in a van shuttle and be brought to the lot where our car was. As annoying as this was, we piled into the van only to pull up and find the car running with the keys in it and NO ONE watching it..."oh hey free car!!" Bottom line: Blu you need to fire your Valet staff immediately. This is the kind of thing that will stop people from returning to your establishment.

Went to Blu On The Water for dinner last night. I would rate this 5 stars for the atmosphere. It is a fabulous place, right at the marina, great location, great views, and a wonderful outside deck and seating area. A trendy and fun outside bar with a band, just a great place to spend the evening. Valet parking worked great, there were many attendants and we did not have a wait at all. Service was great as well. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu offered great variety and the prices were reasonable. The food was not great. I would say if the restaurant would put a little focus on improving the quality of their food (fries were cold although my husband's fish was good and rigatoni I had was gummy, even at a second try) this would be a 5 star all around.

My husband and I love this place as for our date nights. Great food, drinks and a cool atmosphere. Sad that the summer is gone. We will miss nights out at the bar by the waterfront. However, we'll still go and enjoy ourselves inside!

Weekend evenings in the summer blow. Here is a breakdown of the crowd on a Friday or Saturday night: Wanna be's , WT, trannies, older men desperately trying to pick up younger women. Just a really seedy crowd. Too bad because the place could be so beautiful. Most likely when summer has ended the crowd will be much improved.

Fun place for people watching, although the super diverse crowd was a bit off putting to me as was the apparent need for uniformed security guards roaming past our table at all to frequent intervals. I'm not sure what image they are going for, but I wasn't pleased. So, that said, the sangria was good, the food was only ok and my overall thought was glad we came, won't be back.

Awesome place great scenery, really nice outdoor dining area, drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is amazing and a very friendly staff. Perfect place for a date with the wife or girlfriend. I highly recommend the Buffalo calamari it was delicious. Only problem was there's only valet parking which is ok but not for me as I don't like other people driving my truck.

I planned my sister's birthday dinner here this past Sunday. I was very disappointed. I hadn't really heard anything about this place except about the night life. I made a reservation here because of the band, which we did not get to hear because we could only make a reservation for indoors. I thought that we would still be able to listen to the music, but we could not. Our service was horrible! Our waitress came to get our drink orders and one person out of 8 ordered an appetizer, which came out with no plates or anything. The waitress then came by and saw that the appetizer was out and asked if we needed plates, after about 10 minutes from it being dropped off at our table and the appetizer being 80% done. We placed our orders. My brother in law ordered the chicken kabobs, which was the only non seafood entree aside from sandwiches and burgers and the restaurant was out. He then ordered the swordfish with roasted potatoes. After about 10 minutes, our waitress came back to tell my brother in law they were out of roasted potatoes. The waitress did not check up on our drinks and only brought more water when my boyfriend and I asked. Rather than asking the others if they needed drinks, she did not and never checked up on drinks again. My sister found a hair on her plate, but refused to make a scene and therefore did not eat it. The food was average at best. Fish tacos were cold. I thought that since this place was a nice place with such a great location, that the food would be amazing, but I was wrong. I would never go back to eat here.

Always a good time at BLU. Our server Erica was great. I had the fish & chips with Parmesan truffle fries and my boyfriend had the ahi tuna burger. Both were delicious!!

The white sangria was delicious and the turkey burger I had was huge and very tasty. The views were excellent - (of the water) the views of the meat head tribal tattooed tools left much to be desired. Great spot for people watching, that's for sure! Gets crazy busy at night so be prepared for a long wait (at least on the weekends). Wasn't a bad time overall, I'd like to go back for cocktails when it is night time to see the outdoors lit up with the flame torches.

The place has a really nice outside bar area with a great view. Good selection of beer and cocktails so enjoy! I have only eaten here once and found my meal to be OK. I plan to return for dinner. Only one complaint...I felt like I was on the Jersey Shore with all the tanned bodies, tattoos, tank tops, and manicured eyebrows everywhere. Other than that...check it out!

Location is perfect, it cant really get much better. That being said it is also the reason why it costs half a mortgage payment to get dinner and a few drinks. The fish tacos were excellent, the drinks and apps were excellent. The wait for the valet is also a big downside. It could not have been any longer of a wait to get the car., I think i could have walked home quicker.

Nice location. Food is average. Found it a bit pricey for what you got for portions. Martinis are good. It is a great place to hang out during the nice weather as it is right on the water.

The food I would give a C not much of a selection. The view on the marina is nice. The outside tent sounds like the subway, won't be back.

I was invited to join some of my colleagues for after work drinks at Blu. Not having heard of the place, I did what I usually do... check Yelp! Eek! I knew I could not have talked them out of the place so I just made some mental notes like, "don't order the truffle fries". The drinks were pretty good: they had a large selection of (to plagiarize another yelper) "girly drinks". At bit pricey at $12 a cocktail when compared to the cost of the food. Drinks inevitably led to dinner. The menu looked pretty good and the prices were VERY reasonable considering the location. I ordered the Baked Stuffed Cod... and I have to say, it was really good! Most of my co-workers ordered the Fish and Chips which they all seemed to like, but the fries could have been warmer. To be honest, we did not go at a peak time... it was post work mid week, and the place was fairly sedate. Considering the attentive service we had, prompt valet, good food and drink, I will definately go back!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION is what this place has to offer. The interior was beautiful and contemporary. The outside deck was literally on the water. On a warm Tuesday in July we ate on the deck. Menu was small but I can forgive it because it was diverse. Mango Chicken was dry, Lobster Mac and Cheese was very good. It was a slow night with many tables empty, in spite of that our food took a long time to come out. Also, our waitress was horrible, we were not a needy party of 4 adults and yet she was unable to bring extra plates, condiments and napkins - I would go back to sit at the bar and have a drink, but do not feel the need to eat there, hopefully that waitress will be gone, she seemed like we were interrupting her night.

This waterfront area has so much potential, and so does Blu. It's got the perfect location - East Greenwich marina. And the ambience has potential. I liked the diverse crowd. The food was good. Much better than other places in the vicinity. I know they've only been in operation for a couple months. I expect the whole place will be more put together for next year's summer season!

I went to Blu tonight to see one of my favorite bands, Batteries Not Included. I had no idea what to expect other than what the Facebook page said, which was that it was a restaurant on the water. As we walked in, the atmosphere felt like I was in a different state, somewhat like Miami, or another location on the cape where tourists go. I personally love the energy of a place like that, but felt great that I wasn't, in fact, a tourist. As we walked in, the place was well lit, yet not overwhelming. We flagged a waitress fairly quickly who said that we could seat ourselves and she would be right over. She was very prompt with coming over to take our orders. The place was packed because of the live band that was playing (who was GREAT!), but yet she was still fairly quick at delivering our drinks. We had to wait around 5-10 minutes, but in a place this big, and this crowded, we weren't expecting it to be fast. Our waitress continually checked in on us when she noticed our drinks were low or empty, but did not bother us too much when we were full. This was excellent, because I don't personally like to be bothered until I need something, at which point, I'm not being bothered at all! :) The drink selection was seasonal and appropriate for the location. There were lots of feminine drinks to choose from that tasted fruity and light, given the hot weather. The band played but we weren't too crowded, so we could dance without a lot of people groping us! The atmosphere and clientel that this place caters to is definately of the upscale crowd, which is great for me, as a 29 year old female. I enjoyed being at a place that could get down and party while not making me feel like a dirty 22 year old! THere was plenty of space, more than one bar to hang out at, and food that looked and smelled delicious. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to order food, because we had already eaten, but overall, can not wait to come back and try the food while listening to another live band! Between the attentive service, good drinks and laid back atmosphere, I giving this place 4 stars. When I try the food, I'll decide on that 5th star :)

Good palce for outdoor cocktails and people watching. Anything beyond this would be too much to ask for.

  • Jimmy R.

One star goes to Steve the bartender. Other than that, this place is a joke. Rudest management in the state and security staff that is convinced they are state troopers. It's a glorified Fish Company to the tune of $16 a drink. The "fad" will wear off and be out of business by next summer simply due to the staff (other than Steve).

    (1)
  • Richard C.

This restaurant is way over-priced for the food and service it provides. The food was cold and dry. The Calamari was especially dry. The chopped Greek Salad was very poor. The service was only fair. The atmosphere was typical East Greenwich snobbery.

Was here last night around 5:30. It was so nice sitting out on the deck. Our waiter was quick to tell us that he's usually a bartender and was a bit nervous about serving food but he was great. The cucumber basil martini was delicious and we both got the rigatoni in vodka sauce with chicken and it was amazing!!! We'll be back.

Known to my circle as "where 20 Water Street used to be", we finally gave this a try this past weekend. We went around 8:30 pm for a few drinks and some appetizers, and the place was hoppin'! Those Guys were playing, which certainly drew in some serious crowds, and unfortunately made parking beyond difficult. (Blu offers valet, but the lot was completely full by 8:30.) The deck area outside was great, especially on a nice summer's night. There are multiple bars outside as well, so getting your hands on a drink is none too difficult. That said, we were seated at a table and did not have a waitress stop by to see if we wanted anything for nearly 2 hours. Maybe it was the crowds, maybe it was the fact the place recently opened, but whatever the reason 2 hours to be acknowledged by a waiter is unreasonable. When the food did come, it redeemed the wait. The bacon wrapped scallops were amazing and the clam cakes did not disappoint. My hope is that we will try this place again and I can update my review to a more favorable rating because this place has a lot of potential. Until then, it's 3 stars for you, Blu.

It's a great location and the drinks are good. We had some execution issues with the food - from finding a hair in the calamari to undercooked scallops. Our server was perfectly nice and did what she could to fix things. I would come back, but just to have drinks outdoors in a nice setting.

This was my first time here and I made a reservation for 20 people on a Saturday night weeks in advance. My original request was to have dinner outside under the tent but they said they can't take reservations under the tent but suggested I call an hour ahead of time. They actually called me 2 hours before dinner and asked me if we still wanted to be under the tent and I said yes and they were able to make it happen. Great! As soon as we got there, our cars were parked by the valet and we were at our table in a matter of minutes. As people in our party started to arrive, we realized we had more people than planned and had to add an additional 8 people. Our waitress Jessica was very patient and kind and didn't blink an eye. I felt horrible but she said not to worry about it. We were assigned two waitresses and they were phenomenal. I wish I had gotten the other girls name but she worked the opposite end of our table. The food came out all at once and everyone seemed to really enjoy their dinner. They were very helpful will helping us split up our checks too. I would definitely go back and recommend this place. We had a great experience. The band was really great too.

Blu On the Water has a great location going for it. We met friends here on a Sunday for lunch. Sadly, they weren't serving lunch until 1PM so, we grabbed a few cocktails and waited. The white sangria was delicious and large in size. The waitress was great and brought us some menus a bit before 1pm. I had the baja fish tacos which has a delicious crunchy shell. The siracha was a bit much, a little too hot for my liking but, after scraping some off - it was perfect. While the place is a bit pricey, you are paying for the great drinks and atmosphere so, keep that in mind. You're also in the midst of large yachts and slightly entitled people. The staff is young and great, and food is terrific. I would definitely come back here!

This place has good location, food, and drinks. However, the service is horrendous. Two of us ordered the captain's platter at market price and without any type of warning we were charged $109. We've ordered this SAME identical plate from hemenways and capital grille for half the price. When I mentioned my surprise to the manager she laughed and said I'm the first person to complain and there's absolutely nothing she can do to help. Then we left and after tipping valet he ran away without shutting the door for us. This place does not value their customers.

The low rating on Yelp almost scared me away. However, this place was fantastic! Haley was our server and she did a fine job. We were looking for a dog friendly patio on the water with delicious food. That's exactly what we found at BLU! This place was upscale and the employees were all super friendly and efficient! Thanks guys! Lunch was delicious! (New England Clam Chowder & Mahi Tacos w/ Truffle Fries! ($34 including a glass of wine.) Perfect! The Beautiful view of all the boats on the water was a bonus!

Honestly, this place could be great... On the water, cool ambiance, live music BUT the service is terrible!! We came on a Wednesday and instead of being greeted, we had to find someone who worked there and ask where to go to get a table. Our server looked like Pauly D with an attitude to boot. He barely welcomed us, gave us no time to look at the dinner menu, and never offered us the drink menu. Once we ordered (the only 2 things that wernt seafood), we barely saw our waiter again. Then all of a sudden we were given the check! No dessert offered or extra drinks. Its not as fancy as theyre trying to be - as I sit on their metal picnic style outdoor furniture. Pass and go elsewhere. P.S The band was good - just really loud - even further away.

Good food. All dishes served warm, not hot, but not a deal breaker. My wife liked the sangria. Saw prior reviews of lacking service, but our waitress Jessica was excellent, as was the poor girl who waited on a particularly difficult person at the table next to us. Great location on a beautiful summer afternoon. I will be back.

I can't say enough about this restaurant. We had a special family luncheon planned for 26 people and everything went beautifully. Thanks to John, the manager, they set us up in a lovely room with access to the deck by the marina. As our guests arrived we were able to mingle and visit out in the sunshine before our meal. The food from the menu was fabulous. Everyone raved about it. And the wait staff was so patient and calm with us. Our party lasted nearly 3 hours and we never felt rushed ever. Thank you Blu, for making our party so memorable Linda G.

So I'm with Michael M on this one. I live around the corner from all these water front restaurants, and I've never walked away from one of these waterside restaurants going "ZOMG I HAVE TO GO HERE AGAIN". When Blu came in, I had recently lost my job and was looking for a mindless summer job. My interview there went great, the women was awesome who interviewed me. I was happy to hear that it was owned by the Cello's brothers (see my other review about Cello's on the water, it's a mid life crisis middle aged women's dance-fest, and has a great outdoor area). Fast forward to our lunch date there: The waitress was awesome (sans the huge hickey on her neck, eww), but the food was sub par. My upgraded truffle fries were obviously sitting under the heat lamp for who knows how long, and they tasted and felt like oily cardboard strips. The fish I got was good, though a little over cooked. I hope these guys get it together, I know they were under the gun with the renovations done and opened late in the season so I'll cut them a break and try again in a few months when things settle down.

Blu on the Water has a lovely location. However, our experience was not one to make us return to this venue. We shared a house salad which was served rather warm and limp. For 8.99, the portion size was quite small. No bread was served until we asked for it and then we had to wait. Although it was served warm, it must have been microwaved because it became very chewy once it cooled. The main course for us was swordfish which was prepared according to our request, with garlic and oil. It was a very thin piece but nicely prepared. it was served with two sides. Only one vegetable was available - slightly blanched green beans. Although we ate the warm salad because we were hungry, we did inform the management about the small size as well as the limpness. No kindness was offered to us. Summer seating by the water is definitely the attraction along with the outdoor nightly entertainment .

where do i start? with the drenched caesar salad or the over baked fish tacos? place was terrible. the topping on the cake was when i went to retrieve my car from the valet only to find that it had been running the entire time i was inside the restaurant! do yourself a favor and stay away. don't waste your money.

So they say that location is everything, but unfortunately for Blu, location is what makes up 1.5 of the 2 stars I'm giving them. The other half a star is for the generous serving of lobster on my relatively inexpensive lobster salad, but we'll get to that. Blu came in at 20 Water St earlier this summer, and I was excited to try it as the restaurants along the water in East Greenwich are really pretty disappointing. Blu unfortunately doesn't step up the game. They have a decent bar, and a great spot for live music, but the wait for service was ridiculously long even with countless servers milling aimlessly about - I almost got up and left. When our food finally came, it was bland and uninteresting (I got a lobster salad over romaine, and Amy got a Caprese salad). The only redeeming quality of both salads was that Blu did not skimp on the lobster in mine or on the mozzarella in Amy's. To be perfectly honest, I'm looking forward to whatever ends up replacing Blu. It won't be long with the ridiculous waits, and armies of servers / bussers that need to be paid.

Probably more like a 3 and 1/2. Nice menu for appetizers. Regular staples of chicken, fish, steak, pasta. Nothing fancy. Had the swordfish. A wee bit thin on the slicing of it. The lobster roll looked great. Using young kids to serve may save them money but the service is just not there. Need to ask numerous times for things. But, great views and on a nice night, was a nice place to hang awhile.

A great ambience with average food, bar and live music. The views of the dock / boats is excellent and is a great place to have a few drinks. The food isn't that great - could/should improve. Free valet parking is great! Waitresses are good but lacked energy - they seemed to be very straight-faced and not wanting to work there (not a good sign). The live band was terrible (night of 7/28/2013).

The worst service ever and the food was terrible!! Our waitress first forgot a spoon with our calamari. So we had to eat it with our forks right out of the dish! I have been a waitress now for 10 years, I'm always told by managers and owners that customers come back for good service so win them over. Not in this case not a single waitress won me back at all. On top of the service My stuff scrod was hard as a rock and had no taste at all.. How Do you serve over cooked fish?!?! the blu sangria was gross way to sweet.. Was not worth the $78!!! The only two positives about this place is the view/location and the pink sangria! But I will just go to other places for pink sangria!! The chelos need to step there game up at this place!!!

I tried Blu on the Water last night for late night drinks and wasn't disappointed. Great live band, ample walking and sitting room and no shortage of bars to order drinks from. Great view of the water as well! Was glad I decided to go for late night drinks but can't wait to try dinner there!

At times, Blu will offer no cover charge for a booked entertainment night. On busy nights, such as weekends and popular booked entertainment, drink service is not as easy to come by. Food and drinks are pricey and more than make up for the lack of cover charge. The free valet parking is good on slower nights, but when it's busy, be prepared to wait (one night we waited 45 minutes) to get your car back. Twice this summer Blu had booked and listed on their online schedule, a well-known band in the area, that they know pulls in crowds. The same two times, at the last minute, mind you, they cancelled the band. The first time we had 20 people in our party and we stayed. The second time, 7, but we decided we were not going to stay that night and promptly left. In my opinion, the entertainment was cancelled late to get the crowds there without having to pay the entertainment. The second night this happened I asked to speak to the manager to voice my disappointment. The manager would not even come out and had a representative inform me that "Blu could not be held accountable for misrepresentation by the band". Upon questioning, I was offered a NEW schedule (of course the band was no longer on it). The misrepresentation was done by Blu. I followed up by sending a personal letter to the manager via mail. Never received a response back.

I went to Blu last night. Beautiful place & the food was great! I had the Crabby Patty Sandwich & NE Chowder. They also had a cool band. The only thing lacking was the service! Our waitress was ok, she never cleared our app or dinner dishes at all! I could see her standing around chatting though. Bus boys were only emptying the bus buckets & not clearing tables. I saw a few people getting up to ask for things & looking around for their server. All of the waitstaff & management looked very young, they could definitely use more training. The white sangria was also fantastic!

We chose this place to have a friends 30th birthday dinner. (15 people) The venue is beautiful and it looked like a good place for dinner, drinks and good conversation. We are a young group of people who are regularly out looking to try new places. However, our service was less than mediocre. Our waitress was very young and seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed. From the start a manager should have added a second waitress to help her out. It took about 20-25 minutes from the time a drink was ordered until it was brought to the table. Beyond frustrating for a group celebrating a 30th birthday, we began to get our own drinks from the bar because it was quicker. Appetizers ( calamari, lobster crab cakes, oysters) were brought to the table without any side plates. There is 15 of us at a long table, plates are necessary. Only a few were happy with their meals. A lot, of people asked to substitute parmesan truffle fries for regular fries only 2 of us actually got them. My fries were luke warm. Two people ordered the fish n chips one person only ate their fries because the fish was so greasy and soggy, 12 peoples meals included french fries but there wasn't one ketch up bottle to be seen. We dropped a cake off the day before, when it came time to bring the cake they had to ask us where it was. There was a $2 fee per person to plate the cake (we knew ahead of time) this is something I would expect from a 5 star restaurant not a place that gives 2 star service. Bathrooms are awkwardly shaped and small. Once we paid our $720 tab (no manager touched base with us at any point) we moved outside to have drinks at the bar and the mood lightened up a lot. I wouldn't have dinner or any type of event here again I would only stop in to have a drink at the outside bar.

Location is perfect. Our family was there with another family- there were 3 kids under 10 and the 4 adults. We ate outside for a late Saturday lunch. Busy they were NOT at this time. So our horrible service left us perplexed. Our waitress was very nice, but horrible at her job. We waited quite some time for our food (the fault of the kitchen, I know, but again, they were NOT busy). We didn't get enough serving ware and despit asking for more, (the kids didn't have anything to eat with) so after a LONG wait and no sign of our waitress, we finally had to get up, go inside and ask for them at the bar. The chowder was very good. Everything else was only ok. It was clearly overpriced for the quality, but with the location it's not that surprising. I would not recommend it- at least not to eat. If you're coming for drinks and apps then it's probably a great place to go. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

I was excited to try Blu last month and I wasn't impressed, at all. Myself and nine other girls decided to go have dinner here before Those Guys were set to perform. It was a hot sticky night, we were sat right by the door where staff as well as patrons entered and exited to access the patio. It was miserable bc we could not feel the AC at all. We ordered various apps, chicken fingers (over fried), mozzarella triangles (good), calamri (had better), stuffies (def had better). For an entree, my friend and I both ordered the Mediterranean chicken pasta and asked for no artichoke and no olives. We joked with the waitress about it bc we both asked for the same exact thing and she said no problem. When our meals finally arrived, there were artichokes and olives in both our dishes. We didn't feel like complaining bc we were hungry and just wanted to finish dinner so we could head outside to hear the band play. When she came over at the end, we mentioned that our meals, which btw was very bland, had atrichokes and olives. Her response was that when they are busy they cannot accomodate special orders. I was SHOCKED with her response bc it was absolute BS. I worked in the service industry for a long time to know that she was just making up an excuse. So if I told her I had a seafood allergy, they can't make sure my dinner isn't cooked near seafood bc the kitchen is busy? That's how I took it (I don't have a seafood allergy). There is just no excuse. Customers pay good money for good food and a good experience... you should accomodate your customers request. I don't think I will be back... at least not for dinner... maybe if a good band is playing.

This restaurant can't quite figure out what it wants to be. We walked into a tavern that looked like it should have had some old sailors telling stories over a few beers. We had to stop a young server, who never acknowledged us, and ask her if we were at Blu. She said we needed to go next door and told us to follow her through what looked like a back hallway. When we came out on the other side, it looked like a whole different upscale restaurant. It was promising when numerous servers and hostesses asked us if needed help and immediately seated us near the window. Then we were handed the menu by another young server in a sweatshirt and short white shorts (much too casual for the decor). The menu definitely needs to be redone. It's all over the place with a mixture of lunch and dinner including burgers, fish tacos, steamers, dinner entrees and sandwiches. There are no specials and nothing spectacular. My friend ordered the fish tacos and I got a salad and steamers. The waitress asked my friend which sides she wanted with her fish tacos. She had to decide between fries, quinoa or the vegetable of the day, green beans. It was so bizarre. She got double fries and asked if she could just get a small house salad. The reply was that there was no small salad only the larger ones. The tacos were so heavily covered with stuff that she could barely pick them up, they looked soggy. The salad was good, but the steamers were mostly broken or closed. It did not look appetizing. The best part of our night was the outside bar and band. This will be the only thing that will draw people back to this place. They put lots of money into the gas lights and fire pit on the deck which will be great for late night drinks outside, but I will never go back for dinner.

Not a fan...went there for a lunch with some friends on monday. Very excited to go but once we got there my excitement went out the window. The waitress was rude and didn't understand how to ask if you need anything else prior to bringing out our food she just dropped it andand walked away..about 15 mins later she came by and asked if we needed anything I asked for vinegar and my friend asked for ketchup. She walked away took another tables order and about 20 mins she reappeared with the items...but our food was cold by that time!!!! The food might have been good if it wasnt cold. The drinks were expensive...and not worth a penny. When we got our check we asked her to split it into 3's..she grabbed it off the table and stomped away..really! Like she was offended we asked.btw she was quick to return to get her money but no other time did she return prompt. Funny how that worked out. Wont be returning nor will I be recommending to anyone.

I really enjoy going to Blu, but I was a bit "skeeved" on my last visit. I was dining outside on a beautiful afternoon..waitress was very nice, but 2 things she did were not appealing to me while I was eating. First, her parents were there and she was chatting with them while handling her bald fathers head looking for who knows what! Then she delivered a small dog to them. Did she handle food after this? Did she wash her hands? Yuk.

My husband and I went to your place last night. Several things wrong, unfortunately. Here is the list...I ordered a glass of Chardonnay from Nappa Valley and was told by the waiter that you no longer carried it... (you just opened recently) the wine that he suggested was ok. We ordered the crab cakes as an app, and although a small portion it was good. By the way, the utensils that were napkin wrapped had mustard encrusted on the fork...did any body notice while folding?? I ordered the whole belly clam sandwich. What I got was 3 whole belly clams, chopped up clam strips and a very stale bun....C'mon, it's Friday nite!!! My husband got the fish and chips and he was as disappointed as I. It would barely feed a child! Thank heavens for the fries! The table on the side of us were disappointed as well, but they complained to the waiter who just shrugged it off!! You have obviously invested a lot of money into this place from the renovations to the out side decks. It the food sucks, you will be left with some nice renovations and no one to enjoy it but yourselves. Too bad, but we will not come back!

Fairly accommodating. Windy day, and we had no problem moving inside after starting outside. Strawberry mojito was fantastic with real strawberries mashed into it, while the white sangria was pretty standard. The highlight food wise was the coconut shrimp appetizer, with perfectly crisped toasted coconut coating. Very good wild berry salad, and an average, bland baked stuffed cod. More seasoning would've improved it drastically. Overall, a really good time at a beautiful locale.

My wife and I broke away from the kids and decided we had enough time for a light dinner and drinks. It happened to be a beautiful day so we figured we would dine at Blu for the first time to take in some waterfront scenery. We arrived and went straight for the valet since parking down there can be difficult - we were surrounded by pricey vehicles so it appeared that some of the RI glitterati would be joining us, though we specifically went early (around 5:30) to avoid the full-blown nighttime crowd and hopefully get some prime seating. We surrendered our CR-V and strode to the door. We were greeted pleasantly if a little judgmentally by several young ladies who were dressed to impress. We requested a seat outside and they were kind enough to take us directly there and seat us on the main deck area, which is decidedly more casual. We enjoyed our time there very much - being where it is the deck doesn't provide sweeping ocean views but a very scenic harbor view with enough activity on the docks to keep you interested and often entertained. People hopping on and off of their boats and pulling in and out of slips, it was exactly the type of atmosphere we were seeking on a moderately warm New England evening. We were initially approached a little slowly as it appeared there was some disinterest or confusion among the staff regarding to whom we belonged, but they figured it out quickly enough for our timetable which was happily nonexistent. Had it been less pleasant outside or were we strictly scheduled through the evening it might have been inconvenient. Our server was mostly attentive from then on and between her and the others who served us throughout the evening I would say that the service was pretty good. We ordered fruity/rummy type cocktails to start and they were solid. It seems that Blu may be a cocktail-focused place actually. They have a decent enough but not great beer selection (no Sam Summer on draught, in New England, during the summer?) and the wine list was as little disappointing if you're into wine, which I am. I did try a fairly generic Tuscan wine and it was decent, but I would add to the wine list. They don't need to become a sommelier's paradise as the wine-drinking crowd may not be their primary target market but a few additional well-selected bottles would be nice. We began our meal with some shrimp and locally-farmed oysters from the raw bar. They were fresh and delicious though one of our 6 oysters was hastily prepared and not well-shucked. The rest of the meal was less memorable but I do recall thinking that the Lobster Mac & Cheese was yummy, that the food was generally pretty good and that while I may not have been blown away by everything that I would certainly return to give other menu items a try. We ended our evening with a couple of tasty desserts and left with the impression that we would absolutely love to spend some more leisurely summer nights seated on the deck enjoying the surroundings at Blu. 4 stars for a picturesque and lively atmosphere and for potential (it is only a couple of years old after all) though I'll be looking for some refinements in service and selection as they grow!

Went to Blu with a group of friends for dinner. Called & asked if the menu had non-seafood items and we were told yes and we also were asked if we preferred inside or outside seating. When we arrived, there was no indoor seating - it was still a semi-construction zone. The menu was very limited - two things without seafood! Not good! We left and had dinner elsewhere and came back for drinks. The nightlife is good, but that's about all this place is good for. I won't be back for dinner unless they revamp.

I am torn between a 2 and 3 star rating. BLU has a very nice look to it; open and formal without being stuffy. It gives a very good impression but the food just wasn't up to par. We started at the bar with a Creamsicle and Pomegranate martini. Both were wonderfully made. The rest of our party arrived in short order and we were seated by the main entrance. We had made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance. Not sure why we ended up with this particular location. The conversation flowed in our group, so we barely noticed all the foot traffic going by.our table. The waitress was polite and friendly. The staff attire is shorts, tee shirt and a BLU zippered sweatshirt. Most of the patrons were dressy or dress casual. Menus appeared quickly, water and bar beverages arrived without delay and the waitress checked in a couple of times to see if we were ready to order. The area we were sitting in, by the bar, is raised above the rest of the dining room and it appears there is a deck outside. The bar itself is small, but very nice with a back lit, stained glass wall. Blue of course. There is also a bar outside to the left of the main entrance. The valet parking goes right up to and past the front entrance (and past the outside bar area) and caution is required if walking to your car as we did. There is a crosswalk in front of BLU and we parked just up the hill. There are sidewalks all the way to Main. I was pleasantly surprised by the food presentation. I had a Pear Gorgonzola salad. The pears were nice and sweet and there was a fair amount of cheese along with too few onion rings and tons of croutons (which I did not eat). The balsamic dressing was tasty. The seared scallop salad was also pleasing to the eye. The menu says 'mixed vegetables'. What we got was coleslaw. It was tasty, but the scallops were not cooked quite enough. The Scallops and Applewood smoked bacon were disappointing. The bbq sauce is on top of the scallops and is not a good flavor combination. Again, the scallops were not cooked quite enough. They had a 'squishy', almost slimy texture. The 'bacon' was more pork belly - a large slab of fat that was entirely unappetizing. 'Scallops and Applewood smoked pork lard' would be a better description. The mashed potatoes however were a big hit. The fish tacos were presented nicely, they were tasty, and the fries were very nice. The Penne alla vodka was tasty, but it looked like something I would NOT want to eat and there was no 'presentation'. Just a bowl of orange sauce covered penne. The view must be great, but we could not see it from where we were seated. If a reservation is made, a little effort in location is appreciated. It feels like BLU has so much possibility. The ambiance is good and the more basic food (like fries, mashed, burgers and pasta) were gobbled up by the younger crowd in our group. It's bar food in an upscale setting, which is fine if that is what you are looking for.

Great location, great music (even on a Monday night - surprise) Oyster are fresh, beer is cold, cucumber basil martini excellence. Hubby had Baked stuffed cod with lobster bisque sauce that was tasty and filling, but just a bit over cooked. I had the Mahi fish tacos that were delish!

This place has its ups and downs and hit and misses. As all others have said and many do about water locations. The spot and view and location is great. Not the best have seen better in this state. Though still a nice place to go and dine on the water if that's what your feeling. Now one of the misses is the valet parking, it can get backed up and run a little slow at time. Hostess was friendly upon entering and was seated right away. As for this night we decided to eat inside instead of the 45 min wait for outside. The decor inside is nice and done well and flows very nice. Bathrooms were clean and taking care of for the amount of people there. Server was ok little slow and sometimes seemed lost at times. Now on to the food, the food here is average at best and overpriced for the portions they served. On this night had the lobster casserole. Not much lobster but assumed it wouldn't come with alot and bingo I was right. The lobster was a little over done and tuff. The cracker bread stuffing could have been a little drier and more crunchy for my liking. Though others might like it drenched like they do. This though on this night was not a 36 dollar meal. No sides came with it or anything. Overall it's an average place with a great view and below par food for the location. Location doesn't make up for average food that's for sure.

Fantastic unless the wind blows out of the south. (sewage plant) Non-questionable seafood harvested from the bay is delivered to this establishment daily i believe. I enjoy myself better here than The Grille, though you still encounter ego rich players along the water. Formerly "Blue Oyster" , "Red Parrot" chain from Newport. This building has been serving good food for decades.

WTF...soo we come to see Tribeca.. waited 15 mins to be noticed. Had a couple of drinks ..with dinner ..it was Oooookay.! Waited forever to get our check. The "band" played shitty ass old 1970 music for 30 minutes. Then went on break....... for over 1 hour.. STILL WAITING... while "planet rock" is playing.. smfh. I'm Done with Blu on the water..with these over priced weak drinks. The crowd is less appealing "jar head central". I could've just went to Golds gym for this laugh. Tanned and tight tshirt night??.... lol So glad I'm with my girlfriend..protecting her from these vultures. Done with Blu on the Water. Save your time and money! !!

Been to the Blu a couple of times, last evening and going back tonight. Have customers in from NC and we all enjoyed the food, drinks, staff was great all around. Music fit the mood and a happy bunch of people. Oysters, lobster salad, calamari and scallops all served up by a helpful waiter. Always enjoy bringing guests from out of town to the Blu.

Do not get your car Valeted here. 1) Valet attendees are incredibly rude / possibly drunk while working. 2) No car security / windows left open on all cars in dirt lot. 3) Your car will suffer damage. I've been to my fair share of upscale restaurants / nightclubs around the country, but this particular spot has some of the most unprofessional valet workers I've ever come across. First off, it was my first time there, so I didn't realize all the lots across from the restaurant are valet only. And the sign that says so, is on the lot entrance side / pointed opposite of the direction I drove in from, so I couldn't see it. Upon entering the lot I quickly realized it was valet only because of the tickets on everyone's dashes. So I backed out and left the lot to head the valet station. I should mention at this point that the lot is an outdoor dirt lot. AND THEY LEAVE EVERYONES WINDOWS COMPLETELY OPEN WITH NO SECURITY IN SIGHT. As I was leaving the lot in my car, one of the valet workers came running at me telling me I couldn't park there, it was valet only. At which point I said "I know man, I'm leaving the lot to get it valeted... there should be a sign on the other side of the entrance to let people driving from both directions know." and the man/kid responded under his breath with a slur "There is a fucking sign..." At that point I got pretty pissed, but still proceeded to the valet station. I gave another attendee my key, and he took off with the car back to the lot. I was waiting for some friends to meet me there, so I promptly walked back to the entrance to let them know as they drove by the valet situation. So here's where I got extremely angry... I understand that the valet business at a busy waterfront spot in the summer must be hectic, but I've seen more care taken at clubs in South Beach (Miami). Some (not all) the valet drivers were extremely reckless with the cars. I heard a lot of engines getting unnecessarily reved, a few cars were bottomed out on the bumpy dirt parking lot because of the speed in which the car was driven out of the lot, and A LOT of people's wheels were getting completely demolished from these workers taking corners too fast. I watched as the valets were bringing cars back to folks leaving were whipping the cars out of the lot(s), bottoming out, and hitting / DRIVING OVER the low concrete curbs surrounding the restaurant. Most notably, I saw an Audi S5 and a Porsche Carrera suffer SEVERE scratches and warping on their very expensive wheels due to an attendee cutting the corner wrong. Needless to say I went back and ordered to valet attendee to give me my key back. I found my car and parked it a mile away where it wouldn't be damaged... The only reason I went back into BLU was for my friends, but I didn't purchase anything.

The views are amazing, and our waitress was very nice, but that was about all I can say about the restaurant. I ordered shrimp scampi: should be called shrimp soup - very little amount of pasta - as well as the wrong type to be used for shrimp scampi - so surprising as pasta is inexpensive - and way too much sauce. For the amount paid for the cocktails and the little amount of food which did not taste that well; I will not be back. The female wait staff's uniform (white shorts) needs to be upgrade - I don't appreciate viewing the majority of the young girls butt cheeks hanging out while I dine - I thought this restaurant was upscale not hooters. Will not be returning - shame as I enjoyed the views of the water and boats.
